Biosphere Expeditions is currently recruiting freelance expedition leaders with employment on a contract basis for between one and four months in any one year and with significant out-of-contract periods between expeditions.

Skills/background required

• Interest in / experience of wildlife conservation activities. Ideally an educational background or degree in one of the Life Sciences.
• Experience of leading expeditions / groups / tours abroad.
• Flexible and friendly, but with the ability to provide leadership and take charge when necessary.
• Well travelled with experience of dealing with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
• A current and nationally or internationally recognised basic first aid qualification, ideally with relevance to expedition medicine.
• A full clean driving license, preferably with some offroad driving experience.
• Ideally a diving qualification of PADI divemaster or above or equivalent.

This covering letter must state clearly how you intend to handle the patchy expedition contract work we can offer and how you can support yourself in between contracts. Applications omitting this information will not be considered. Your CV must state clearly:

• first aid qualifications
• languages spoken (indicate level of proficiency) and
• experience in relation to the above job description and skills/background required.
