Biosphere Expeditions offers part-time unpaid placements for local people of the expedition countries on all its wildlife volunteer conservation expeditions. They are awarded on a competitive basis and preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate (1) a genuine interest in wildlife conservation or a career in this field and (2) that they will use their conservation expedition experience to further environmental protection in the expedition country and carry the message to other people, thereby multiplying the effect of their experience. Successful applicants will then take part in the volunteer expedition at no cost other than getting themselves to the expedition assembly point. Note that placements are not paid positions. Also note that the number of places available and the time when they are available will vary from expedition to expedition. More information and application form.
The unpaid part-time Biosphere Expeditions Exploration Bursary in cooperation with the Royal Geographical Society makes one place on any Biosphere Expeditions project available once a year for one person. The bursary is for "all who are inspired to explore the world in a challenging and meaningful way, and to give something back by doing so", in line with the ethos of exploration and responsible travel shared by Biosphere Expeditions and the RGS. We particularly encourage students planning an overseas expedition or budding early-career field researchers with a new idea to apply. More information and application form.
