AWARD-WINNING, NON-PROFIT AND ETHICAL WILDLIDE CONSERVATION VOLUNTEERING SINCE 1999
Citizen science | expedition travel | wildlife conservation
Our planet is in crisis, with nature under attack like never before. We empower people to change this through our non-profit wildlife conservation volunteering expeditions, which unite citizen science, ethical volunteering and hands-on wildlife conservation. We are a non-profit, visionary and award-winning conservation volunteering organisation that succeeds - the creation of protected areas on four continents is just one example.
Come and join us! Make your holiday time count as a wildlife conservation volunteer and share in our vision of a healthier planet. Whatever your age or background, make your voice heard and spend a week or more with us volunteering in wildlife conservation. Travel with us to remote and beautiful places, learn new skills, meet like-minded people from around the world and experience conservation travel in action. Together - for nature, not profit - let's act like our world depends on it. Because it does.
We have really enjoyed being here in Germany on the trail of the wolf. What a great time as citizen scientists – full of excitement, adventure and doing something useful for nature. Great time, great group, great cause. We'll be back!
Before Biosphere Expeditions, little attention was paid by my government to the reefs of Musandam. This has all changed and there are now protected areas, based on scientific advice, and a local NGO, coming out of capacity-building efforts. Thank you so much for all this.
We have been with Biosphere Expeditions many times across the globe and each time we felt we contributed something significant to local wildlife and people. It's certainly the most ethical, successful and best citizen science / wildlife conservation organisation we have ever experienced.
Biosphere Expeditions' support of our snow leopard conservation work here in Kyrgyzstan is crucial. With the help of their citizen scientists, we can get so much more work done, engage with locals more and create economic incentives based on ethical, low-impact citizen science tourism.
Our expectations regarding whales, dolphins and other animals, and the research work were 100% fulfilled, but the thing that made it extra special for us was the genuinely friendly and relaxed atmosphere between everyone on the expedition.
Biosphere Expeditions has given me my first job and I am very grateful as there is little work in our area. I am also very grateful for the work that the citizen scientists are doing. Since their arrival I haven’t lost any cattle to lions and hyaenas. My cattle are very important to me and for my family.
I have a bit of a soft spot for Biosphere Expeditions, because it played a big role in my life choices. My first expedition with them was to Oman and it opened my eyes to the importance of nature conservation, so I changed my career path, have been on lots more expeditions and never looked back. Thank you for instigating change.
You have inspiring leaders and scientists that are great role models. Our experience in Costa Rica has been fascinating and rewarding thanks to these incredible people, this amazing place and the efforts to save sea turtles. The memories of this inspiring journey will last a lifetime and we were fortunate to share it with you.
Thank you so much for training us in Reef Check techniques and helping us to come up with our own community-based conservation programme and local NGO. The reefs in our country need all the help they can get and we could not have done this without Biosphere Expeditions.
There are very tangible outcomes for wildlife and habitat conservation from the work that Biosphere Expeditions does. Just as one example: Data collected by our expeditions as well as our intensive work to influence decision-makers have led to the creation of two MPAs (marine protected areas) in the Musandam Peninsula of Oman, where all fishing except local handline fishing has been banned by a new ministerial decree.
