English Become a member of the Friends of Biosphere Expeditions today If you can't take part in a full-blown expedition or project yet, or if you have already been with us and would like to stay involved, or if you would simply like to be part of what we are doing, then why not become a Friend of Biosphere Expeditions today? Help us to support critical wildlife conservation and research projects across the globe for a membership fee starting from £5 | €7.50 a month | US$10 | AU$12.50. As a Friend of Biosphere Expeditions your benefits will include: Biosphere Expeditions magazine Biosphere Expeditions magazine: The Biosphere Expeditions magazine contains results and stories from the expedition frontline, research and conservation achievements, expedition and media reports, an outlook for the year ahead, news about new expeditions in the pipeline and much more. This will be sent to you once a year, along with the Biosphere Expeditions brochure. Biosphere Expeditions brochure Along with the Biosphere Expeditions magazine, you will also receive the full-colour brochure with details of the research and conservation expeditions that your membership contribution helps to support - expeditions that you can join across the globe at reduced rates for Friends and so literally "activate" your membership by becoming directly involved in the field. You will receive the Expeditions brochure before it goes out to the general public thus getting the first look at our expeditions worldwide. News and updates on how your membership fee is making a difference to our conservation work in the field Wondering where your money will go? First of all your membership fee will be used to run the Friends and its events. After that whenever we make a significant expenditure on one of our conservation projects from the Friends' funds, for example by training up a local person, spending on essential research equipment or supporting an educational campaign, we will let you know in a clear and transparent way. Being a relatively small, flexible organisation with no steel and glass headquarters to maintain or bureaucratic dinosaurs to feed means that the lion share of your membership fee will go into a general fund. Whenever we draw from this fund, all Friends will be notified. For example, we may spend some of the fund to enable scientists from different projects to present the findings of their Biosphere-supported projects at international conservation conferences, or we may spend some of the fund on printing education materials for local people, or on training up a local conservationist under the guidance of our project scientists. It's impossible to say what will be needed over a longer period of time and where the next urgent need will crop up, but we will always keep you informed so that you can see exactly where your money goes.   Expedition and event discounts: "activate" you membership Activate your membership and enjoy a reduced rate on all expeditions for Friends. This reduction can be up to 20% off the expedition contribution and depends on the level and length of your membership. Talk to us for further details on this. Friends also receive notification of and discounts to Biosphere Expeditions events. First notification and preference for last minute expedition places We sometimes have significantly reduced last-minute places for expeditions, which are in need of one or a few more team members. As a Friend you will be the first one to be notified of such places and have preference over others in securing it before it goes out to the general public. Biosphere Expeditions reports Whenever an expedition report is published, we will send you a notification. You can then access the report online or request a hardcopy in the post, so you can see how your membership fee is making a difference in the field. Biosphere Expeditions eNews Every few months you will also receive our eNews with the latest information about what's been happening at Biosphere Expeditions as well as special offers and expedition updates. . In Deutschland als gemeinnütziger Verein "Biosphere Expeditions e.V." registriert, helfen Sie durch Ihre Mitgliedschaft wichtigen Natur- und Artenschutzprojekten weltweit und ab €7.50 monatlich. Als Freund von Biosphere Expeditions haben Sie Anspruch auf: Biosphere Expeditions Magazin Das Biosphere Expeditions Magazin (auf Englisch) mit Resultaten und Geschichten vom Naturschutz draußen im Feld, herausragenden Ergebnissen und Ereignissen unserer Arbeit, einer Vorschau auf das Expeditionsjahr, Neuigkeiten und mehr. Das Magazin wird Ihnen einmal jährlich zusammen mit der Expeditionsbroschüre zugesandt. Biosphere Expeditions Broschüre Zusammen mit dem Biosphere Expeditions Magazin erhalten Sie auch die Biosphere Expeditions Broschüre (auf Deutsch und Englisch), eine Farbbroschüre mit Einzelheiten über die Expeditionen, die Ihr Mitgliedsbeitrag unterstützt und denen Sie zu Sonderkonditionen für Freunde beitreten und so Ihre Mitgliedschaft buchstäblich "aktivieren" können. Die Broschüre bekommen Sie bevor sie öffentlich zugänglich ist und haben somit die erste Wahl unserer Expeditionen weltweit. Nachrichten und Berichte wie Ihr Mitgliedsbeitrag eingesetzt wird Fragen Sie sich wofür wir Ihren Mitgliedsbeitrag einsetzen? Zunächst einmal für die Administration und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit der Freunde. Danach, um unsere Naturschutz-projekte direkt im Feld zu unterstützen. Und jedes Mal, wenn wir dies tun (zum Beispiel wenn wir jemanden vor Ort ausbilden, Forschungsgerät kaufen oder lokale Informationskampagnen durchführen) werden wir Ihnen davon berichten und finanzielle Rechenschaft ablegen. Wir sind eine relativ kleine, flexible Organisation ohne Glaspalast und Wasserkopf, und können daher den Löwenanteil Ihres Mitgliedbeitrags in unseren Fonds einzahlen. Immer wenn wir von diesem Fond entnehmen, geben wir den Freunden Bescheid. Entnahmen können gemacht werden, um es z. Bsp. unseren Wissenschaftlern zu ermöglichen zu internationalen Wissenschaftstagungen zu reisen, oder um Aufklärungs-materialen für die Bevölkerung vor Ort eines unserer Projekte zu drucken, oder um einheimische Naturschützer durch unsere Wissenschaflter auszubilden. Es ist unmöglich vorauszusagen, wo über einen längeren Zeitraum als nächstes Finanzmittel gebraucht werden, aber wir werden Sie immer über unsere Aktivitäten informieren, so dass Sie sehen können wohin genau Ihr Geld geflossen ist. Vorrecht auf "letzte Minute" Expeditionsplätze Manchmal bieten wir stark reduzierte "kurz vor Torschluß" Expeditionsplätze an. Als Freund erhalten Sie als erster Nachricht von solchen Plätzen und haben dann ein "Vorkaufsrecht". Biosphere Expeditions Berichte Jedes Mal, wenn wir einen Expeditionsbericht veröffentlichen, werden wir Ihnen Bescheid geben. Dann können Sie den Bericht entweder herunterladen oder per Post anfordern und selbst nachlesen, wo Ihr Mitgliedsbeitrag mithilft und eingesetzt wird.
